Filming of The Bachelorette has been paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but there’s a silver lining. With all this time on their hands, ABC has decided to cast new Bachelorette Clare Crawley some age-appropriate men. Chris Harrison just confirmed that Clare’s Bachelorette season is recasting with new men, and we can’t wait to see the new and improved group of suitors on the other side of all this.
So, did ABC listen to its fans and decide that Clare probably wasn’t interested in their 20-something batch of men? Not exactly. Just Jared reports these comments from Harrison during an Instagram Live.
What a difference a week can make. The world and our lives have changed drastically, that is a fact. But how we handle this moment is still up to us. Be responsible and vigilant and encourage others to do the same. Be kind, loving and courteous. Be good neighbors and good citizens. We need this now more than ever. There will be a time we can get back to our insane political bickering but this is not that time. Be smart, use common sense and educate yourself. We will all get through this together. “We don’t have a set time of when we’re going to come back. Obviously with this virus, who knows when this thing is going to blow through,” Harrison explained. “So the idea that everybody is just going to be able to take off work and do this again? Probably very slim.”
In other words, the original cast we’ve seen simply might not be available by the time they’re able to pick up filming again. So, Harrison confirms they’ve already started looking at new options.
“There will be some different guys,” he said. “Maybe it’ll be completely different guys, maybe it’ll be a mixture. Who knows? We really don’t know, with the way the world is right now, with everybody’s schedule.”
There’s one person we’re sure is happy to hear the news: Clare herself, who campaigned for new men to apply during her own Instagram Live. “I feel like since we have a break in the show right now, I don’t think it’s too late to submit people,” she said. “So, submit them, why not? What’s the worst that could happen?”
