Here are two things we’ve come to realize about kids face masks: First, like with all clothing, children are more likely to wear them when they feature a character or design they love. And second, if you don’t wash them frequently, they really stink. Those are also two of the reasons we’re into a new collaboration between Crayola and a new mask company called SchoolMaskPack.

The name SchoolMaskPack pretty much says it all: The company sells masks in packs of five, along with a mesh bag for the laundry. It’s marketing these masks as essential back-to-school supplies for kids and teachers.

And yes, face masks are looking like one of the top things that’s going to be on every student’s supply list this fall, assuming schools will be open at all, that is (buries head in pillow and screams for five minutes).

By licensing designs from Crayola, they’re truly embracing that early education vibe, too. They sell kids mask packs with crayon characters, cute animals and food “Craymojis,” crayon faces, and also solid colors. Teachers, parents, and teenagers can get in on the fun with masks adorned with that signature Crayola squiggle. That might go a long way toward easing smaller children into a classroom taught by adults whose full faces they can’t always see.

The masks are dual-layer and machine-washable, with adjustable ear loops and nose clips. A five-pack for kids costs $29.99, and a five-pack for adults is $39.99. They’re available for pre-order now and expected to arrive by July 31. According to a press release, customers can choose to direct a portion of the proceeds to either DonorsChoose, No Kid Hungry, or Heart of America.
