Summer is fading fast, but our love for all things #watermelon is burning bright! Each bottle of #TraderJoes Cold Pressed Watermelon Juice contains the juice from a whopping four pounds of fresh, sweet watermelon, plus a splash of lemon juice—and nothing more. And instead of traditional heat pasteurization, we put it through a cold, high-pressure process. (Bacteria is banished, but the juice’s subtle flavors & nutrients are not.) Fruit extracts are super trendy in beauty products recently (and we’ve been on top of watermelon for years now — check out our DIY watermelon face toner recipe). This spring, TJ’s is releasing a watermelon face spray that’s basically a hydrating toner. According to the podcast, the Watermelon Face Spray “has both watermelon fruit extract, watermelon juice and watermelon seed oil and squalane and hyaluronic acid.” You could start seeing this product pop up in a store near you this June.
The next product sounds an awful lot like the super popular Korean beauty product Glow Recipe Watermelon Grow Sleeping Mask.
According to the pod, “We also have a Watermelon Overnight Face Mask, which is like a super-concentrated version of the gel moisturizer with watermelon extract and watermelon seed oil and you put it on your face and it absorbs in really quickly and you sleep on it overnight and wash your face in the morning. And it should be really moisturizing and you should wake up glowing.”
Watermelon isn’t the only fruit Trader Joe’s is featuring in their spring beauty products. You can also look for their new Strawberry Sugar body scrub.
“There’s sugar as an exfoliant, but there’s actual strawberry seeds in the formulation to use as an exfoliator.” You’ll have soft, smooth skin just in time for bathing suit season.
Another product we can’t wait for? They have a non-aerosol dry shampoo in the works, which should be available this year.
With their attention to trends, affordability, and the fact that all of their beauty products are cruelty-free, we’ve got to admit that we can barely wait for these new items to hit store shelves. Between climate change and it being an election year, our skin can use all of the help it can get!
